The Trials, Part 1
As a Christian, Trials will come
2 Timothy 3:12 (HCSB) says, “In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,” (emphasis mine).
Also, in James 1:2-3 (HCSB) it says, “Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, (3) knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.”
So now, just because we have become Christians, does this mean that life will get easy now? No more hardships, trials, bad things happening? No! Bad things happen. Bad things happen to good people and bad people alike. Bad things even happen to the best of people.
In India in 2008, over 50,000 Christians were displace, and lost their homes for the sole purpose that they were Christians!
Here is an exerpt from the All India Christian Council in December of 2008:
“Since Aug. 23, 2008, the aicc recorded: 315 villages damaged, 4,640 Christian houses burnt, 54,000 Christians homeless, at least 6 pastors and one Roman Catholic priest killed, 10 priests/pastors/nuns seriously injured, estimated 18,000 Christians injured, at least two women (including a nun) raped, 149 churches destroyed, 13 Christian schools and colleges damaged. Attacks mostly stopped in mid-October, but sporadic violence continues.”
I have friends who are missionaries in many other parts of the world, and all over the world, no matter where you are, Christians are persecuted, Christians face trials, and it’s hard. BUT, all over the world, all of these Christians have one thing in common…
They have the Love of Christ in them… They have Jesus walking them through it, right by their side, giving them the strength to get through each situation. He also gives us the certainty, the hope, that one day we will be with Him in paradise, in life everlasting. This is what our hope truly is.
2 Timothy 3:12-15 (HCSB) says, “In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (13) Evil people and imposters will become worse, deceiving and being deceived. (14) But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing those from whom you learned, (15) and that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus,” (emphasis mine)
